About the role -
We are looking for a Software Engineer with a strong low level orientation to join the team developing Podmotion, a live migration engine for Kubernetes workloads.This is a deeply infrastructure focused role for engineers who work close to Kubernetes internals, container runtimes, and distributed systems, and who enjoy building system level capabilities near the operating system and runtime.The role focuses on enabling seamless and reliable workload mobility across nodes with no downtime, including for stateful workloads, while owning reliability, performance, and developer experience end to end.
What you will do?
Develop low level core components around Kubernetes and container runtimes
Work with CRDs, controllers, reconciliation loops, and operators
Integrate with containerd, CRI O, or Docker and Linux primitives such as cgroups and namespaces
Work with checkpoint restore including memory, processes, networking, and filesystem state
Debug, profile, and optimize performance at the system level
Work closely with Platform and Cost teams on advanced infrastructure capabilities
Contribute to the open source ecosystem in the areas of workload mobility and Kubernetes
Required experience -
At least 5 years of backend development experience
Strong experience developing production grade or system level services in Golang
Deep, hands on experience with Kubernetes including controllers, CRDs, operators, and pod lifecycle
Hands on experience with container runtimes and Linux primitives such as cgroups and namespaces
Strong understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and failure handling
Experience with system level debugging and performance optimizationStrong advantages
Experience working with CRIU or similar checkpoint restore technologies
Contributions to Kubernetes SIGs, CRI, or infrastructure focused open source projects
Knowledge of networking internals, CNI, IPAM, or cross node routing
Experience with Rust, C, or other system level languages
Practical experience with eBPF
Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, or Azure at the system level
