A fast-growing product technology company is looking for a VP R&D to lead and scale its engineering organization, shape the technology strategy, and drive execution across a complex, high-scale transactional platform.

This is a key executive leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, with significant impact on the company’s technology, product, organizational growth, and delivery capabilities. The role works closely with Product and other senior stakeholders to ensure strong alignment between engineering execution and business objectives.

The position is particularly relevant for an experienced R&D leader who has scaled engineering organizations in high-growth Product companies, managed managers, and led complex technology environments.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, develop, and scale the engineering organization, including Directors, R&D Managers, and engineering teams across Backend, Frontend, DevOps, and QA.

• Define and drive the technology strategy and architecture to support scale, high availability, and evolving business needs.

• Own end-to-end engineering execution and delivery, with a strong focus on quality, predictability, and speed.

• Develop the engineering leadership layer and strengthen management capabilities across the organization.

• Build and improve development processes and workflows, creating strong alignment between R&D and Product.

• Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, innovation, and engineering excellence.

• Oversee AWS infrastructure, system performance, security, production monitoring, and operational excellence.

• Attract, hire, develop, and retain strong engineering and leadership talent.

Work Environment

The role is based in Tel Aviv and follows a hybrid model of 4 days from the office and 1 day remotely.

The VP R&D reports directly to the CEO and works closely with the VP Product and other executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 8 years of experience in senior R&D leadership roles.

• Proven experience managing managers and leading a significant engineering organization.

• Experience in fast-growing Product companies that have gone through meaningful scaling and organizational change.

• Strong technical background in Distributed Systems, High Availability, and Microservices architectures.

• Strong familiarity with Node.js/TypeScript, AWS, NoSQL, Kubernetes, and Event-driven architecture.

• Proven ability to connect technology strategy, Product needs, and business objectives.

• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
